Human functioning depends on access to material resources and on the ability to coordinate them within the relevant social and economic context.
This domain includes securing and managing material resources, including finances where applicable. Paid work and money are treated as historically and institutionally important implementations rather than universal functional requirements at the most abstract level.
That distinction is important. A person’s financial functioning depends not only on numeracy or self-control but on income, institutional rules, banking access, benefit systems, household arrangements, social support and the consequences attached to mistakes. The page should therefore connect personal capacity to the structure through which resources are actually obtained and maintained.
